ModButton Lite (Surefire®/Modlite Plug)
ModButton Lite is a smaller and lighter cousin of the original ModButton. The switch has the same momentary activation as the original ModButton. It also features the same high power cable and switch as ModButton, but in a slightly smaller package without the integrated bracket. The switch is made from injection molded and fully encapsulated plastic to provide an extra degree of protection in harsh environments and ensures a durable and long lasting switch.
ModButton Lite uses a patented Unity Tactical design that supports the power needed for the next generation of high output weapon lights like Modlite. A Surefire® compatible cable built by Unity allows ModButton Lite to be backwards compatible with all Surefire®, Arisaka and Modlite Scout bodies as well as Surefire UE and DS00 tailcaps. If constant activation is a requirement, we recommend using an SF DS00 tailcap which can be found here.
A problem that exists today is that old legacy switches are not able to pass the current needed to operate current and future generation lamps. These older switch designs do not allow Modlite light heads to operate at full power. Typically, these switches reduce output by 15-20%. ModButton Lite uses an updated socket design along with improved electronics which allows the ModButton Lite to output full power so that all lumens and candela can be put to good use.
The kit includes the switch PIC mounting rails and mounting hardware only, no back caps are provided. We recommend the Surefire EU or DS00 tailcap. In addition, an adapter is also available for MLOK rails here.
Note on cable length options:
For almost any use case, the 4.5-inch variant is what you want to buy. Unless you have a special setup, the 4.5 inch cable will be enough even to run a laser.
