The benchmark for hemorrhage control
The latest evolution of the SOF® tourniquet is the benchmark for pre-hospital tourniquets. Targeted upgrades allow for smoother and faster one-handed and two-handed applications for more effective bleeding control.
Its innovative design is the result of years of extensive research, material testing, and end-user feedback on and off the battlefield. It continues to evolve with your changing medical intervention needs when bleeding control is most needed. The SOF® Tourniquet slides easily over an arm or leg. It unclips at the buckle to adapt to hard-to-reach areas, such as a stuck limb.
When developing the SOF® turnstile, TACMED asked customers about their experiences and which features would be most important to them. The feedback collected is reflected in the improved design and effectiveness of the tourniquet. It's stronger, lighter and easier to use so you can stop the bleeding wherever life takes you.
The patented SOF® tourniquet was designed by a Special Forces doctor while deployed to Afghanistan in 2003 to save lives. It is still a favorite tourniquet of elite military forces and emergency responders around the world.
Description
-
Performance compression band
A completely redesigned strap to maximize compression during the donning process. With an actual width of 3.81 cm, the new performance material slides through the heavy-duty buckle for fast, snag-free operation and minimizes pressure loss over time after set-up.
-
Heavy duty buckle
Designed to remove excess slack in one smooth motion, the buckle shape stabilizes the compression band at any angle of engagement. The new Heavy Duty Buckle is a lightweight, advanced composite attachment that is superior in strength to previous versions.
-
Wedge indicating slack
Sewn inside the compression band below the windlass, the contrast wedge provides visual confirmation that you have removed all excess slack from the band. This is a critical step for correct placement of the tourniquet, and results in fewer windlass rotations to achieve occlusion.
-
High-strength aluminum windlass
Machined from a single bar of aircraft-grade aluminum, the 13.97cm windlass features unique tapered ends and grip-friendly texture for consistent twist. Its anodized finish minimizes the impacts of environmental elements for durability in any scenario.
-
Reinforced clip for tourniquet retention
Holds the windlass in place until you can secure it inside the TRI-RING lock, even under extreme side loads. The TRAC clip provides stable handling during tough setups, and improves control for one-handed maneuvers.
-
TRI-RING lock (triple ring)
Complete the installation of the garrote n fixing the windlass inside the TRI-RING lock. It can be easily operated with one hand and prevents the windlass from moving when the patient moves.
-
Time marker
Allows the time of tourniquet application to be documented without any interference with the device fixation mechanism.
Simply:
- Position it around the injured limb
- Adjust the strap
- Turn the "windlass" wand until the bleeding stops
- Block the strip in the clip, secure with the tab
